Richard Long CBE is one of the best known British land artists, as well as a sculptor, photographer and painter. He is the only artist to be featured on the Turner Prize shortlist four times, and won the award in 1989 for his work White Water Line. His seminal work, A Line Made by Walking (1967), was completed whilst he was still studying at Saint Martin’s School of Art in London and marked a turning point in the development of sculpture and performance art. He has had major solo shows at galleries and museums throughout the world including the Tate and the Guggenheim as well as featuring in group exhibitions at museums including MOCA LA with artists such as Bruce Nauman, Damien Hirst, John Baldessari and Carl Andre. In 2018 Long was awarded a Knighthood in the Queen’s New Years Honours list. Long lives and works in Bristol.

The artwork will be safely stored, free of charge until Friday 15 December 2023. Alternatively, Freedom from Torture can help organise national and international delivery of artworks through a third party, to the winner. The winning bidder will be responsible for all delivery costs and will be invoiced directly by the third party.
